It has been an exciting year so far for us at GK Elite! We have announced our partnership with Under Armour®, launched our Cirque du Soleil Collection, and participated as the exclusive vendor at the 2013 Junior Olympic National Gymnastics Compulsory Workshops in Orlando, FL and Reno, NV in early June. These workshops are held to provide participants with a clear understanding of the 2013-2021 USA Gymnastics Women's Junior Olympic Program. Workshops include concepts, compulsory exercises, text interpretation, and skills techniques. All coaches who attended received W311 University Credit and all judges earned their Continuing Education Clinic credits. A few coaches were lucky enough to win some very exciting prizes, from GK!

Above are the winners from the Orlando, FL Workshops. Each day, GK hosted events that offered these exclusive prize packages. Our booths were flooded with gymnasts and coaches while we released our Under Armour® Catalogs and showed some of our Cirque du Soleil Collection. Featured above, Jennifer Plecs from Deary's Gymnastics, and Jessica Sedgwick (no photo) from Prattville, YMCA received a  giveaway for 2 FREE Cirque du Soleil ticket vouchers good towards 2 tickets to a Cirque du Soleil show valued at $200.  GK Elite was proud to award Kelly Hill from JamJev Gymnastics $500 in SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS on up to ten leotards. Our Reno, NV Compulsories Workshops were also a huge success! Again our booths were flooded with gymnasts and coaches so eager to see our Under Armour® and Cirque du Soleil Collections. Our proud winners of the Cirque du Soleil tickets were Dawn Mosteller from Rising Stars Gymnatics in photo, and Tracy Green from River City Gymnastics.

Hundreds of the nation's top Level 10 gymnasts competed in the 2013 Women's U.S. Junior Olympic National Championships, May 10-11, at the Minneapolis Convention Center.  As usual, GK Elite set the stage for competition by outfitting the gymnasts from top to bottom in gorgeous training tanks, long sleeve competitive leotards and warm ups.  Kim Riley, USA Gymnastics Women's Program Director of Athlete and Coaching Programs, loved GK's leotards.  "The girls looked great in their leotards!" said Riley.

GK Everyday Champions Talia B. and Madison D. love to compete in GK style!  Both gymnasts represented the Region 1 Junior B Championship team at the 2013 Women's Level 9 Western Gymnastics Chamionships in Roseville, CA.  Talia, who competes for Head Over Heels of Emeryville, CA, was victorious in her GK leotard as she claimed the All-Around title. Madison, who competes for San Mateo Gymnastics of Belmont, CA, also shined in her GK leotard as she placed 2nd in the All-Around competition.  Way to go Talia and Madison!

Last weekend, the newly minted women's European Tour team swept the awards at the Jesolo Trophy winning 13 individual medals in both the senior & junior competitions, including seven gold medals. At the close of the March Women's National Team Camp at the Karolyi Ranch, USAG announced the eight women selected to represent Team USA on a two week European Tour which will begin at the 2013 Jesolo Trophy on Saturday, March 23rd in Jesolo, Italy. GK was on hand immediately to deliver brand new Under Armour gymnastics leotards to the National Team for training and competition as part of its partnership with Under Armour to manufacture the National Team leotards.

Under Armour & USA Gymnastics today announced that Under Armour, Inc., the Baltimore, MD-based leader in athletic performance gear, will provide performance apparel, footwear, and accessories for the USA Gymnastics athletes, coaches, and staff for the next eight years, through the 2020 Olympic Games.  This is the brand’s first sponsorship of a national governing body for a summer Olympic sport.

As part of this exciting agreement, Under Armour will also collaborate with GK Elite Sportswear to create the U.S. National Team competition apparel for men's gymnastics, women's gymnastics, and trampoline & tumbling.  GK has been the exclusive manufacturer of competitive gymnastics apparel for the U.S. National Team since 2000.  “GK Elite is proud to be partnering with Under Armour and USA Gymnastics for the next two Olympic cycles,” said Kelly McKeown, EVP of Corporate Relations.

Maverick All Star Tumblers in Weatherford, Texas, is home to the Level 5 Double Mini Team who recently competed at the Dallas Cup in Allen, Texas. They took advantage of a break in the competition to visit the GK Gymnastics booth on site and graciously posed for some pictures in their GK competitive gymnastics leotards.  The Maverick's coach, Jenifer Still said, "We absolutely love our GK leotards! GK saved our season!  We ordered our leotards on a Monday, had them in hand by Thursday, and competed in them that Friday & Saturday!  The girls love their GK leotards so much they opted to practice in them right out of the box on Thursday."

At a recent photo shoot for the 2013 catalog featuring women's competitive gymnastics leotards, GK had the chance to sit & chat with Kyla Ross, member of the gold medal winning "Fierce Five" Women's Gymnastics Team.

GK: Congrats on bringing home Gold for Team USA!  What was it like to represent Team USA in London?

Kyla: Getting to go out there and compete, not only for yourself, but for Team USA, was such an honor, knowing that everyone is supporting you.  We didn’t even realize until we got home how many people were watching the Olympics, supporting us, and cheering us on.  It was a huge deal.

GK: How has your life changed now that you’re an Olympian?

Kyla: The first few months when I got back were kind of hectic.  We were doing so much and going so many places.  But now, it’s kind of cooled down and I’ve been back to school and back in the gym training.

GK: You’ve had so many great experiences since London, what was your most memorable?

Kyla: Definitely, meeting President Obama was a huge honor!  It was amazing to be in the oval office and see everything and to be able to meet the President.

GK: Now that the Olympics are over, what are you focused on?

Kyla: I am focused on training and I’m looking forward to competing this season and hopefully bringing something new to the table. 

GK: So, do you plan to compete next season at Championships?

Kyla: Yes, I’m planning on competing in championships and getting out there with everyone else, enjoy it, and do my best.

GK: What advice would you give to your fans?

Kyla: To all my fans, I would say to reach your goals, you always have to focus and do your best.  Some days might be tough, but you just have to keep training hard in the gym and be dedicated to your sport.

Olympian Shawn Johnson has been a GK Champion since winning the Gold Medal for the Balance Beam and Silver Medals for Team USA, the All-Around, and Floor Exercise at the Beijing 2008 summer games. Shawn has spent the last four years partnering with GK to design top selling gymnastics leotards for our essential catalogs and fans wait anxiously to see what new strappy ideas Shawn comes up with for each of her signature leotards.

The Williams Center for Dance & Gymnastics in Fayetteville, Arkansas recently competed at the 2012 Trojan Classic hosted by Jenks Gymnastics, in Jenks, Oklahoma on November 30th - December 2nd.  The athletes and their coach were very proud of the GK gymnastics leotards they sported for the event. 

Williams chose GK's Special Order Asymmetrical Tear Drop Gymnastics Leotard 7462 from the 2012 Women's Competitive Catalog.  Taking advantage of GK's infinite possibilities, Williams picked out fabrics first, deciding on Black Mystique for the bodice of the leotard and Black Mesh for the upper body and 3/4 length sleeves.  White Mystique and brilliance SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS were used to create the tear drop design on the front and back of the gymnastics leotard.  The Black Mesh on the upper body and sleeves sparkle with more brilliance SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS for a dramatic & elegant look.
