Yuri V. is a 9-year-old gymnast from the Netherlands who always chooses GK to fulfill his gymnastics apparel needs!  He is a member of the club O&O Zwijndrecht, which is one of the best clubs for boys gymnastics in the Netherlands.  Yuri competed in the Netherlands' nationals for his age level and made it to the finals for the first time in his life.  He not only made it to the finals in one event, but three events!  He placed 7th in the All-Around and 4th on the Rings and won the silver medal on Vault!  Awesome job, Yuri!

It was a wonderful celebration Tuesday, June 11th acknowledging GK Elite's employees and all of their hard work in our recent partnership with Under Armour®. The men of the U.S. National Team stepped on to the competition floor at the 2013 American Cup in new Under Armour gymnastics apparel manufactured by GK Elite Sportswear.  Jake Dalton of Reno, Nev./University of Oklahoma posted a 89.398 for the first place win.  Both Dalton and his teammate, Danell Leyva of Miami/Universal Gymnastics, looked great in their Royal Blue, White, & Navy Blue Stretchtek gymnastics apparel with both the Under Armour logo and the iconic National Team circle of stars logo.

As part of its ongoing support of the sport of gymnastics, GK supplied the participants of USA Gymnastics T&T JumpStart program with gymnastics apparel for their January 12-13th camp at the Karolyi Ranch in Huntsville, Texas.  The JumpStart Program "identifies future elite athletes at a young age and educates their coaches on proper fitness and skill development. Under Armour & USA Gymnastics today announced that Under Armour, Inc., the Baltimore, MD-based leader in athletic performance gear, will provide performance apparel, footwear, and accessories for the USA Gymnastics athletes, coaches, and staff for the next eight years, through the 2020 Olympic Games.  This is the brand’s first sponsorship of a national governing body for a summer Olympic sport.

As part of this exciting agreement, Under Armour will also collaborate with GK Elite Sportswear to create the U.S. National Team competition apparel for men's gymnastics, women's gymnastics, and trampoline & tumbling.  GK has been the exclusive manufacturer of competitive gymnastics apparel for the U.S. National Team since 2000.  “GK Elite is proud to be partnering with Under Armour and USA Gymnastics for the next two Olympic cycles,” said Kelly McKeown, EVP of Corporate Relations.

Designated as the official performance apparel and footwear outfitter, Under Armour will provide national team members with competition, conditioning and training apparel, accessories and footwear, including competition gymnastics leotards. Soon after the announcement of Gabrielle Douglas as the latest GK Champion, work began on her first collection of gymnastics leotards culminating in a photo shoot for the upcoming Spring 2013 Workout Essentials catalog.  In between shots, GK had a chance to chat with the 2 time Gold Medalist. 

GK:  How does it feel to have a collection of GK gymnastics leotards with your name on them?

Gabrielle:  It just feels amazing to have my own line! I’m so excited for it to come out, I’m even going to buy my own line.  It’s just very exciting.

GK:  What are your favorite features of your Spring collection of GK gymnastics leotards?

Gabrielle: I love my spring leotard collection because everything is really comfortable.  I know that when I work out, I always want to be comfortable.  The fabrics are not only comfortable, but cute too.  There is one I love called “slither,” kind of like an animal print.  I just hope you guys love it.

GK:  Is leotard design something you’ve always wanted to do?

Gabrielle:  I’ve always loved designing my own leotards.  I remember designing leotards for Classic's or Visa’s and throwing different colors in and a whole lot of bling in.  I’ve always dreamed about designing my own leotard line. 

GK:  What is your inspiration for your leotard designs?

Gabrielle: My inspiration comes from cool designs, the idea of comfortable leos, just crazy colors, crazy rhinestones, just a mix of it all.

GK:  Is there anything you’d like to say to the young gymnasts who will be buying your leotard collection?

Gabrielle:  Yes, I would just say I hope you guys love my GK gymnastics leotards.  I hope you succeed in all that you do in this sport.  Never quit, never give up, always have fun, and love the sport!

USA Gymnastics' Trampoline and Tumbling (T&T) Olympic Development Program (ODP) is a bridge between the Junior Olympic and Junior Elite levels. The program provides a training camp, coaches' education, and an ODP team named based on ranking from the ODP Divisions at three competitions. The men on The Kellogg's Tour of Gymnastics Champions have been making jaws drop with an awesome display of strength and gymnastics skills.  What a great showcase for GK Men's Gymnastics Apparel as it's never been seen before. 

For the high bar feature of the show, the men sport a superhero-like outfit of GK men's gymnastics compression shirts made of Black Nylon/Spandex with Red Nylon/Spandex applique detailing.  The coordinating men's gymnastics pants are made of the same Black Nylon/Spandex with some that are plain black and some echoing the red appliques of the men's gymnastics tops.

Caitlin of The Classic City Center Gymnastics Program in Waterloo, Indiana was recently chosen as one of four girls to perform Body In Flight (Delta) at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

Earlier this year, the exhibit which was originally shown at the "Gloria" art exhibit at the 54th La Biennale di Venezia, Caitlin and the other gymnasts donned the same GK Ladies' Unitards and men's Competition Shirts and Pants that were also showcased by 2007 U.S. All-Around Champion David Durante and 2008 Olympic silver medalist Chellsie Memmel in Venice in July 2011.

On Tuesday, September 4th, former New York Giant and Superbowl winner, Michael Strahan, made his debut as Kelly's permanent co-host on the show now known as Live with Kelly & Michael!  On the guest list for Michael's premier day were women's gymnastics Gold Medalists Aly Raisman and Jordan Wieber. A "Challenge with the Champions" ensued involving Aly & Michael, Kelly & Jordan, a balance beam, and some eggs.  Michael can add winning (well tying) egg-beam racer to his list of accomplishments, right after his record for most sacks in a single year.
