The first Team USA competition leotard to makes its debut in London was a stunning pink creation!  It wasn't so much a matter of if the Team would wear pink, but when.  The soon to be Fierce Five sported these beautiful pink gymnastic leotards when they first hit the Olympic floor for podium training. 

This long sleeve competition leotard is a custom design with a regal v neck and v back.  The foundation fabric is Berry Mystique with the starburst design created with alternating Berry Mesh fabric.  The glittering star appliques are made of Clear SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS on the front and back of the leotard.  On the right shoulder is the iconic circle of stars logo of the USA Gymnastics National Team.

GK gymnastics leotards are be spotted all over when the athletes from North Valley Gymnastics in Phoenix, Arizona are competing. NVG's Tumbling & Trampoline Coach, Chelsea Burns told GK, "The NVG T&T team just returned from the JO Nationals in Long Beach, California.  NVG had 17 athletes competing at levels 5-9.  The team returned home with 2 Gold medals, 5 Silver medals, 4 Bronze medals,and 18 top-10 finishes!"

MyKayla Skinner, a senior international elite gymnast, trusts GK Elite to deliver the best quality and comfort when she competes.  At just fourteen years old, MyKayla was the youngest gymnast in the Senior division at the 2012 VISA Championships this June in St. Louis, Missouri.  Despite her young age, MyKayla performed terrifically, winning 15^th in the all-around and 3^rd on the vault! 

MyKayla trains at Desert Lights Gymnastics in Chandler, Arizona and is coached by Lisa Spini, Neela Nelson, Bruce McGehee, Bob Peterson and Chris George.  In March, she represented the USA team at the City of Jesolo Trophy in Italy where she placed 10^th in the all-around, 5^th on the vault, and 4^th in the floor exercise.

Junior international elite gymnast Lexie Priessman claimed the Junior All-Around Title at the 2012 VISA Championships in style as she wore a GK Elite Special Order Competitive Wear leotard!  Lexie began gymnastics at the age of 5 and now trains at the Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy in Ohio under the coaching of Mary Lee Tracy and Amy Wert. 

Aside from her Junior All-Around Title at the 2012 VISA Championships on June 7-10 in St. Louis, Missouri, Lexie also captured the Junior Floor Exercise Title and silver medals on the vault and uneven bars.  Way to go Lexie!  Previously in March, Lexie traveled to Italy to help the USA team win gold in the City of Jesolo Trophy.  There, she gained the All-Around title and was first on the vault, second on the uneven bars, and third in the floor exercise.

Raffle tickets for this courage-inspired leotard were sold at the Pink Invitational and online and raised over $4,300 for Unite for HER.  The lucky recipient of this one-of-a-kind leotard was Bryn Kanagy a Level 4 gymnast from Centre Elite Gymnastics in State College, PA.

With equal parts pressure and excitement, Nastia returned to the world of competitive gymnastics on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Secret U.S. Classic.  The cheering was deafening before and after her beautiful beam routine for which she won 3rd place!  While we wait the long two weeks for the Visa Championships - let's talk about what else the fans were waiting for - what would Nastia wear?

GK congratulates the winners of the 2012 US Secret Classic this past weekend in Chicago, Illinois.  Excitement filled the UIC Pavilion at the University of Illinois as the top contenders for London 2012 showcased the best of the sport of gymnastics.  In the end, three athletes rose to the top of the medal stand.  Aly Raisman won the all-around Gold, posting a score of 60.350.  First year senior, Kyla Ross, took Silver with a score of 59.800 and rounding out the top three was Kennedy Baker, also a first year senior, with a score of 56.800.

With just 59 days until the Olympics, the excitement and competition will only grow in intensity. The debates will rage on and scores will be analyzed and reanalyzed.  For now, let's enjoy celebrating the senior all-around medalists and talk about the awesome GK gymnastic leotards they wore for this important competition.

The country's best Level 10 gymnasts met and competed at the 2012 U.S. Women's Jr. Olympic National Championships at the Hampton Roads Convention Center in Hampton, Virginia on May 11-12, 2012.  Just under the elite level, Level 10 is the highest level in the Jr. Olympics program.  Athletes from each of the eight USA Gymnastics regions came ready to compete.

Continuing a now ten-year tradition, GK supplied gymnastic apparel for the JO athletes including a long sleeve gymnastics leotard and a warm up.  GK representatives were on site in Virginia to hand out the apparel to the athletes.  The athletes were very excited to receive their GK box containing the weekend's wardrobe!

Each athlete received GK's Classic Jeweled Tank Leo Style 3599, from their region in Black Nylon/Spandex, White Sparkle, and one of eight beautiful Mystique fabric colors.  The tank leotard was embellished with their region number in silver sequinz.  For competition, GK supplied the athletes with a Classic Square Neck Long Sleeve Gymnastics Leotard Style 4804, made of Black/Nylon Spandex, coordinating Mystique fabrics, and embellished with Clear Crystals on the front chest.  GK also supplied warm ups for all of the athletes made of Black Stretch Woven, White Stretch Woven, and White Tech Mesh, with their region number on the front and the JO logo on the back of the warm up jacket. 

Connie Maloney, Women's JO Program Director, said, "The USA Gymnastics Jr. Olympic Program has been so fortunate to have a special association with GK Elite Sportswear.  For so many years, GK has outfitted all of the competitors at JO nationals, giving each region its own beautiful colors to identify them.  Thank you, GK, for being such a loyal supporter of our athletes and for always giving us such high quality apparel and top-notch service."

Russian athletes are well known for grace and power in the sport of gymnastics and Anastasia Grishina continues that tradition.  The 16-year-old from Moscow will be one to watch on the road to London 2012.  Anastasia is currently a first-year senior member of the Russian National Team winning an impressive 5 medals at the Russian Nationals in 2011 and most recently taking the Bronze at the 2012 Russian National Championship.

The Kalon Ludvigson Invitational was held at the Utah Olympic Oval on March 17, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  The event is in its second year of becoming an annual competition and this year's was the largest tumbling competition in Utah history with 543 athletes competing in 1,128 events!  Athletes came from Canada, Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. 

Kalon Ludvigson, a senior elite athlete who trains at Team Revolution in Pocatello, Idaho, hosted the event.  Kalon is the most decorated U.S. Athlete in Trampoline and Tumbling History.  He has won 19 World Cup and World Championship Medals and is the only American to hold a World Record for Degree of Difficulty in tumbling, which he has claimed twice, once in 2008 and again in 2011.  Kalon has garnered an international reputation with all of his success so far.

The 2012 Pink Invitational was an astounding success!  The ongoing, stellar support of this event enables Unite for HER to help women affected by breast cancer, provide wellness education materials, and raise awareness. Save the date for next year's event - February 22-24, 2013!

GK was honored to create the gymnastics leotard for the Pink Invitational athletes. The leo was a beautiful, classic v-neck style made of Black Nylon/Spandex with Pink Bubblicious fabric on the right shoulder.  The iconic Pink Ribbon was created with fuchsia nailheads and the GK and Unite for HER logos were artfully combined with Cheeky Pink and White embroidery. It has become a fun tradition at the Pink Invitational for teams to creatively accessorize!

A much loved tradition at the Pink Invitational is the popular BRAvado Art Inspired Exhibit.  This year, there were 18 sports bras turned one-of-a-kind creations by gymnastics celebrities.  Their creations were then  raffled off to raise funds for Unite for HER. Perhaps even more valuable than the funds raised by BRAvado each year, is the open forum the event creates for girls to talk about breast health care.  With breast cancer awareness and education at the heart of the Unite for HER mission, BRAvado was an immeasurable success.

New to the event this year was the donation of a Couture Collection Leotard by GK and SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS for Unite for HER to raffle off at the Pink Invitational.  The stunning long sleeve competitive gymnastics leotard evokes both strength and beauty, featuring Black and Petal Pink Mystique fabrics that provide a premium backdrop for the 10,000+ handset Classic and Diamond Leaf SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS adorning the garment. These two uniquely fantastic raffle events at this years' Pink Invitational created an incredible outreach initiative for girls and young women in addition to raising over $4,300 ensuring that the Unite for HER mission will continue.

Flashes of beautiful pink and black GK gymnastics leotards were everywhere at the 3rd Annual Nastia Liukin Cup, Friday, March 2, 2012 at New York City's Madison Square Garden.  GK is proud to have sponsored the Nastia Liukin Cup for the third consecutive year.  The Nastia Liukin Cup has grown every year in its endeavor to provide a high level competition opportunity for top Junior Olympians.  Qualifiers for the event are held throughout the year leading up to the competition as part of the Nastia Liukin Cup Series lending even more valuable experience for young gymnasts that they might not have otherwise.

34 athletes earned a spot at the competition in 2012 and were outfitted by GK with a tank leotard, a long sleeve competition leotard, and warm ups.  In addition, each competitor got to meet and have their picture taken with Nastia! The tank leo was made of Berry Storm and Black Mystique fabric and the competition leotards were made of Berry and Black Mystique fabric.  Sparkle was added to each leotard with heat-transferred jewels. 

Charity Jones from Dynamo Gymnastics in Miami, Oklahoma captured this year's coveted Nastia Liukin Cup title.  Charity posted a score of 38.075 capturing the All Around win.  Congratulations Charity!

McKayla Maroney, 16 year old, Elite Artistic Gymnast from Los Angeles, California has been doing gymnastics from a very early age, but recently her climb up the competitive gymnastics ladder has become fast and furious.  Although relatively unknown just a few years ago, McKayla is now a serious contender for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.  McKayla trains under Coaches Artur Akopyan and Galina Marinova at All Olympia Gymnastics Center in Los Angeles, California.

McKayla made everyone sit up and take notice with her display of talent and ability at the 2011 Visa Championships in Saint Paul, Minnesota winning Gold on Vault and Silver All Around.  Next up were the 2011 Worlds in Tokyo where her vault scores contributed to  Team USA's Gold medal win.  McKayla is best known for her stunning Amanar vault execution, a Yurchenko-entry vault followed by two and a half twists in the air during a laid-out back salto.  

Inside Gymnastics magazine has also noted McKayla's recent rise and features her on its current cover, exhibiting poise and power in her long sleeve GK competition leotard at the 2011 Visa Championships.  GK's Petal Design Competition Leo Style 9550, is a scoop neckline gymnastics competition leotard that dazzles with its floral design throughout the bodice and ribbon effect on the back.

Everyday Champion Lilly T. is 7 years old and competes as a Level 4 Gymnast at Competitive Edge Gymnastics in Leechburg, Pennsylvania.  Lilly loves her team's custom GK gymnastics leotard and thinks it is her lucky charm.  Lilly placed 3rd All Around at her most recent meet.  Bars are her favorite event and she will be going to states next month!

GK, along with the support of SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS, is pleased to announce the donation of the first in a line of couture gymnastics leotards.  The first couture leotard is designed especially for the Pink Invitational outreach gymnastics meet on February 24 – 26, 2012, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The proceeds from the raffle of this courage-inspired leotard design will benefit Unite for HER, a non-profit organization dedicated to breast cancer awareness programs for women.  This one-of-a-kind leotard design boasts an approximate retail value of $5,000 and is part of GK’s 2012 – 2013 Couture Collection.  A companion leotard will be made available for purchase as part of the Ultimate Brilliance by Elite collection which will be featured in GK’s 2012 – 2013 annual competitive catalog.

Julia Kline, a GK designer for eight years, holds a bachelor of science in apparel design from the University of Delaware.  Her design inspiration stems from her own personal advocacy and support of breast cancer awareness over many years.  “This opportunity is a dream come true for any designer.  I jumped at the opportunity to create a couture leotard supporting the cause,” Julia said.  “It was very exciting to work with SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS and have free reign over which crystals I could choose from and use in my design with no limitations.  The flame design engulfing the iconic pink ribbon on the back of the leotard portrays the courageous “fight” each woman faces when she braves her personal battle with breast cancer.  The rest of the design is symbolic of the strength and beauty that can arise from something so tragic.”

Julia continued, “Every leotard that I design for GK has its own special meaning.  Some are unique based on the design inspiration I had at the time and some utilize new manufacturing techniques, fabrics or embellishments, which is always exciting.  I am able to express emotions, inspirations and ideas and see them come to life with every style.”

Julia also designed a companion leotard which will be available as part of the Ultimate Brilliance collection and featured in GK’s 2012 – 2013 annual competitive catalog.  According to Julia, “The couture leotard then inspired the creation of the commercial leotard.  The styling is similar, but with a marketable price tag.” 

Her Ultimate Brilliance Courage leotard has over 2,000 Classic Crystal SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS adorning the body and sleeves of the garment and an additional 1,600 Pink, Fuchsia, Clear, Ruby, and Tangerine SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS on the back.  The same Black and Petal Pink Mystiques are the foundation for the crystals.  The competitive leotard design features the same classic v-neck and long sleeves.  The leotard will be available in sizes Child Small through Adult Extra Large.
