Enter Chalk Full of Beauty Sweepstakes today for a chance for 2 grand prizes!

A trip for two to the U.S. Women’s National Gymnastics Team Training Center, based at the legendary Karolyi Camp, to meet 2008 Olympic all-around champion Nastia Liukin, and a trip to New York City for a weekend of beauty are the two grand prizes in the Chalk Full of Beauty Sweepstakes. 

Enter March 25 through 12 p.m. May 28.

USA Gymnastics, CoverGirl and Secret have joined forces for the 2010 Chalk Full of Beauty Sweepstakes that has a total of 82 prizes: two grand prizes, five first and 75 second prizes. To enter, go to www.usa-gymnastics.org/chalkfullofbeauty. A random drawing from all eligible entries will be conducted on June 1.

Entrants must be 13 years of age on the date of entry and reside in one of 49 United States (excluding Maine and the District of Columbia). Only one entry per email address is allowed, and it is void where prohibited by law. Click here for the official rules.

Here’s a quick snapshot of each of the prizes.

Grand prize (two)

• Trip-for-two to the U.S. Women’s National Gymnastics Team Training Center. The winner and a guest will travel to the U.S. Women’s National Team Training Center at the Karolyi Ranch in Huntsville, Texas, for the exclusive opportunity to meet Liukin and see the training center. The two arrive on June 27, 2010, and return home on June 29. The prize includes round-trip coach air transportation from the major airport nearest to the winner’s home; two hotel nights (double occupancy); transportation to and from the airport; a CoverGirl/Secret gift basket; and a $500 check payable to the winner.

• New York City beauty trip. The winner and a guest will travel to New York City for a weekend of beauty. The prize includes a day of spa services for the winner and guest; round-trip coach air transportation from the major airport nearest to the winner’s home; two hotel nights (double occupancy); transportation to and from the airport; a CoverGirl/Secret gift basket; and a $500 check payable to the winner. The trip must be taken within one year of notification.

Tonight begins the Jewish observance of Chanukah, the Festival of Lights. Chanukah begins on the 25th day of the Hebrew month of Kislev, but the starting date on the western calendar varies from year to year. The holiday celebrates the events which took place over 2,300 years ago in the land of Judea, which is now Israel.

About 175 BCE, in the land of Judea there was a Syrian king, Antiochus. The king ordered the Jewish people to reject their God, their religion, their customs and their beliefs and to worship the Greek gods. There were some who did as they were told, but many refused. One who refused was Judah Maccabee.

Judah and his four brothers formed an army and chose as their name the word "Maccabee", which means hammer. After three years of fighting, the Maccabees reclaimed the Temple in Jerusalem, about 165 BCE. The Maccabees wanted to clean the building and to remove the Greek symbols and statues. On the 25th day of the month of Kislev, the job was finished and the temple was rededicated.

To complete the cleansing, they lit the eternal light, known as the N'er Tamid, that needed to burn for 8 days. Only a tiny jug of olive oil was found with only enough for a single day. The oil lamp was filled and lit. Then a miracle occurred as the tiny amount of oil stayed lit not for one day, but for eight days.

Jews celebrate Chanukah to mark the victory over the Syrians and the rededication of the Jerusalem Temple. The Festival of the Lights, Chanukah, lasts for eight days to commemorate the miracle of the oil. The word Chanukah means "rededication".

In America, families celebrate Chanukah at home. They give and receive gifts (maybe Leotards and Gymnastics Apparel), decorate the house, entertain friends and family, eat special foods, and light the holiday menorah.

B"lack Friday is the Friday after Thanksgiving in the United States, which is the beginning of the traditional Christmas shopping season. The term dates back to at least 1966, although its usage was primarily on the East coast. The term has become more common in other parts of the country since 2000. Because Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States, Black Friday occurs between the 22nd and the 29th of November.

Retailers often decorate for the Christmas and holiday season weeks beforehand. Many retailers open extremely early, with most of the retailers typically opening at 5AM or even earlier. Some of the larger retailers (depending on the location) such as Sears, Best Buy, Macy's, Toys "R" Us, and Walmart have been reported to open as early as midnight on the start of Black Friday in localized areas and remain open for 24 hours throughout the day until midnight the following Saturday. Upon opening, retailers offer doorbuster deals and loss leaders to draw people to their stores. Although Black Friday, as the first shopping day after Thanksgiving, has served as the unofficial beginning of the Christmas season at least since the start of the modern Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1924, the term "Black Friday" has been traced back only to the 1960s.

The term "Black Friday" originated in Philadelphia in reference to the heavy traffic on that. More recently, merchants and the media have used it instead to refer to the beginning of the period in which retailers go from being in the red (i.e., posting a loss on the books) to being in the black (i.e., turning a profit).
