GK's Reading, Pennsylvania headquarters hosted its annual International Distributor Conference last week with 25 global GK reps in attendance. The conference kicked off with a lively welcome dinner followed by two full days of educational, informative, and inspiring interchange among the participants. Our international guests toured the GK facility, viewed new and exciting products, and received training toward their success in their home countries. Awards were also bestowed for select sales accomplishments and years of service milestones.

GK's international distributor program started with our presence at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia, when Lilia Podkopayeva of Ukraine, the Women's All Around Gold Medalist, competed wearing GK, along with the rest of the Ukrainian gymnasts. Also wearing GK were gymnasts from Morocco, Uzbekistan, and Latvia. Although the Gold Medal U.S. Women's Team did not wear GK for those Olympic Games, when featured in People Magazine's "Most Amazing People in 1996" issue and asked to wear their own favorite leotards for the photo shoot, all but one showed up in a GK leotard!

The inertia of GK's international relations was set in 1999 when the company, after an introduction by Wolfgang Bohner, clinched a contract with the German National Gymnastic Federation to become the official sponsor of the German National Team. That same year, Wolfgang became GK Elite's first international distributor. Today, GK has 25 international distributors in 15 countries servicing over 50 countries. GK - made locally, sold globally!
