After months of negotiations, Elite Sportswear and adidas were unable to come to a mutually agreeable renewal of our global licensing agreement.  While the former partnership was successful and positive, the two companies could not agree on mutual goals for the future of their relationship.

What does that mean for Elite Sportswear’s customers?

Effective immediately, Elite Sportswear is unable to process any new orders for adidas stock or special order merchandise and after December 31, 2012, will be unable to accept any re-orders or fill-ins.

We sincerely apologize for the late notice, however, due to extended contract negotiations with adidas and contractual confidentiality agreements, we were not able to give more advance notice.

In an attempt to minimize any negative impact on our customers, we made a conscious decision not to introduce any new adidas styles in our 2012-13 In Stock and Competitive catalogs, and instructed our sales reps to encourage their customers to re-order early.  We realize we may not have reached all of you.

Although it is unfortunate that a renewal was not successful, we are more excited about the future than ever.  More people are choosing GK than ever before.  We feel that we have the most well-rounded and stylish leotard collections in the company’s history.  We are proud to have Olympic champions Gabrielle Douglas and Alexandra Raisman as our newest endorsed athletes, and our customer service rankings have been outstanding.

What should I do if I still have questions about my adidas gymnastics order?

GK Elite hosted our 3^rd Annual Fashion Show at the Gymnastics Olympic Trials in San Jose, California from June 28 to July 1.  The Show was held at the Village at Arena Green right outside the HP Pavilion where the competition was being held.  GK held not just one, but two Fashion Shows on Saturday and Sunday of the competition on the same stage that Kenny Loggins played at the post event celebration.

The models, who came from many different gyms across the U.S., strutted their stuff down the runway in a variety of elegant and bold leotards. The large crowd that flocked the Arena Green for the Show needed shades to block the light from not just the shining sun, but also the sparkling SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS that adorned these gymnastic leotards!

Five of GK Elite’s gymnastics lines, Legends, Women’s Special Order Competitive, IN STOCK, adidas, and SWAROVSKI Couture, were showcased at the event.  The Show began with the presentation of the Legends Leotards, which was created by five legendary Olympians, including Svetlana Boguinskaia, Kim Zmeskal, Shannon Miller, Amanda Borden and Carly Patterson.  An array of leotards from the Women’s Special Order Competitive, IN STOCK and adidas, embodied much of the Show.  However, the highlight of the GK Fashion Show was the grand finale of the SWAROVSKI Couture Leotards!  This line boasts four one-of-a-kind handcrafted leotards each worth around $5,000.  Up to 18,000 SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS adorned each of the Couture Leotards!

The US teams were wearing adidas gymnastic leotards and apparel during the competition, giving them all form all focus to bring home the 7 medals.
  
The women's team was able to pull through strong after losing strong gymnast, Alicia Sacramone due to an injury making her unable to compete.  The women's all around gold medal went to Jordyn Wieber, after making a strong come back from an error on bars, where she placed 4th.  Wieber also placed 3rd on Beam, and 6th on floor exercise. Wieber is only the 6th US woman to claim the all-around gold medal.


Vaulting into gold was the talented McKayla Maroney with her solid performance, making it a third straight US win for the vault title.


Alexandra Raisman also received a bronze medal on floor excercise placing 3rd and also placed 4th on beam.


Gabrielle Douglas also competed on the uneven bars in the finals with Wieber and placed 5th.


Looking at the men's team there were some very strong competitors including  Danell Leyva who received Gold on the parallel bars helping the US men's team finish second.


The men's floor excercise had the highest US score from Steven Legendre finishing fifth in the final and Jake Dalton placing 8th. 


Jonathan Horton placed 7th in the still rings final and John Orozco placed 8th on horizontal bars. 

This years World Championship made history with the women't team bringing home the gold.  It was a display of talent and skill and in the end the US teams prevalied on top and have secured spots to the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Donato Casciano has been hired as Executive Vice President of Operations.  Donato comes to Elite with 35 years of apparel manufacturing experience.  Most recently, he was the Director of Operations for Boathouse Sports, Inc., a niche manufacturer of rowing apparel.  Formerly the Director of Global Production for Under Armour, Donato’s leadership was integral to the company’s early stages of rapid growth.

In a series of related moves, Jeff Fields has been hired as the Production Manager of Cutting and Sewing.  Jeff brings 30 years of garment manufacturing experience to Elite, most recently with American Apparel in Los Angeles. There, he implemented quality control, auditing procedures and production lead times for on-time delivery within 22 facilities.

Nan Hurlburt was named to fill the newly-created position of Technical Design Director.  Nan comes to Elite with broad-based manufacturing and business experience from owning DesignWorks, a cheerleading and dancewear company in Massachusetts.

Mark Bowers, the new Quality Control Auditor, will oversee all quality processes including a beefed-up quality control department. Mark previously was Director of Quality Control at Ardmore Blouse in New York.

According to Dan Casciano, President and CEO, these changes will position Elite Sportswear for future growth in its gymnastic and cheerleading business units.  “The demand for our gymnastics products has been remarkable, given that we already are the market leader.” Casciano added, “We’re very excited to have these associates join our Elite family to help serve the gymnastics and cheerleading markets with greater innovation, quality and efficiency.”

The Region IV Women’s Gymnastics Meet was hosted by Triad Gymnastics in Des Moines, Iowa. Gymnasts from Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin gathered to compete. The meet was held from April 15^th through the 17^th and many of the gymnasts showed up in adidas Gymnastics team apparel.

      

Team Missouri wore an adidas triple-stripe tank leotard in purple mystique with white trim and striping style AS323. Team North Dakota was wearing a stylish adidas triple-stripe tank leotard in cherry and black mystiques with silver trim and striping style AS396.

GK Breast Cancer Awareness Leotards made a major appearance at the Victorian State High Performance Center's Breast Cancel Charity Open Day in Melbourne, Australia on March 5.
